1. Purpose and scope
Spottail is operated by SpotTail Infotech Private Limited (CIN: U58200TS2026PTC216995), with its registered office at Flat 406, Block-3, CBR Estates, Madinaguda, Miyapur, Tirumalagiri, Hyderabad – 500049, Telangana, India (“Spottail,” “we,” “us,” “our”).
This document sets out our published standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). It applies to everyone who uses Spottail, to all content on the service — profiles, pet profiles, photos, and chat — and to our own team.
Spottail is a service for adult pet parents to find companions for their pets nearby. It is not directed to children, and children are not permitted to use it.
2. Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation
We have zero tolerance for CSAE. The following are strictly prohibited on Spottail:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form — images, video, audio, text, links, or generated or edited depictions.
- Any content or conduct that sexualises a minor, or that presents a minor in a sexualised manner.
- Grooming, solicitation, sextortion, or any attempt to make sexual contact with a minor, or to arrange to meet a minor for that purpose.
- Trafficking of, or advertising the sexual services of, a minor.
- Sharing, requesting, or offering to share CSAE material, or directing anyone to it elsewhere.
- Any other conduct that exploits or endangers a minor.
Where we identify a violation of this standard, the outcome is immediate removal of the content and permanent termination of the account. There is no warning step and no appeal to a lesser penalty for CSAE. Termination applies to the person, not only the account — under our Terms of Service, a terminated user may not register again under a new account, email, or device.
3. Spottail is an 18+ service
You must be at least 18 years old to use Spottail. This is a requirement of our Terms of Service, and our onboarding enforces a date-of-birth gate at account creation.
Spottail is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18; if we learn that we have, we delete it, as set out in Privacy Policy §13. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we terminate it.
Spottail is not enrolled in any children's or family programme on the app stores it is distributed through, and is not designed, marketed, or promoted to children.
4. How to report a child safety concern
In the app. Any user can report another user, from either of two places:
- From a profile — open the profile, tap the ⋯ menu, then Report.
- From a conversation — open the chat, tap the ⋯ menu in the thread header, then Report (or Block).
Choose a reason — Inappropriate content, Fake profile, Harassment, Animal welfare concern, Spam, or Other — and add a note. For a child safety concern, please use Inappropriate content or Other and say clearly in the note that it involves a minor, so we can prioritise it.
Reports are confidential. Submitting a report also blocks that user automatically, and blocking on Spottail is mutual — neither of you will see or be able to contact the other again. You can also block someone without reporting them.
By email. Anyone — including people who do not use Spottail — can report a child safety concern to contact@spottail.in. Please include the profile name or link, what you saw, and when. You do not need an account to report to us this way.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first. In India you can call 112 (emergency), 1098 (Childline), or report online through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at cybercrime.gov.in, which accepts anonymous reports of child sexual abuse material. Reporting to us as well helps us remove the content and the account.
5. How we respond
Reports that involve a child safety concern are prioritised above all other report types and are escalated to our Grievance Officer. When a report is substantiated, we:
- Remove the content from the service.
- Terminate the account permanently, and block re-registration.
- Preserve the relevant evidence — the content, account records, and associated logs — securely and separately from the live service, for as long as needed for a law-enforcement request or legal proceeding.
- Report to the appropriate authorities. In India, to the local police, the cyber-crime authorities, or the relevant statutory body, as the case requires. Where the material and the applicable law make it appropriate, we also report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
- Cooperate fully with any lawful request from law enforcement or a court.
Timelines follow our published grievance process (Terms §17 / Privacy §14): complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days. Complaints concerning the categories of unlawful content specified under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 — which include content that is paedophilic or harmful to children — are acted upon within 72 hours. In practice we act on credible CSAE reports as soon as we see them, not at the end of that window.
6. What we do, and what we do not do
We would rather be accurate about our capabilities than impressive about them. Today:
- We do operate a reactive review process: every report reaches a person on our team, who reviews it and acts on it.
- We do provide in-app reporting and mutual blocking on every profile and every conversation, and an email route open to anyone.
- We do enforce an 18+ date-of-birth gate at onboarding, and manually review the vaccination records behind any Verified badge.
- We do not currently run automated CSAM detection, hash-matching, or image classification on uploaded content.
- We do not proactively monitor or scan private conversations between users.
This means user reports are our primary detection route, which is why we keep reporting one tap away and why we treat child safety reports as our highest priority. We keep these measures under review as the service grows, and we will update this page — not quietly change practice — if that changes.
7. Related prohibitions in our Terms
These standards sit alongside our Terms of Service §6, which prohibits, in compliance with Rule 3(1)(b) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, any information that “is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another’s privacy…” or that “is harmful to children.” Terms §6 also prohibits using Spottail to facilitate encounters between adults unrelated to pets, and prohibits sexual or pornographic content of any kind.
Spottail is designed for pets meeting pets. Nothing about the service is intended to be used for adult dating, and content of that nature is removed regardless of who is depicted.

9. Compliance
We operate in India and comply with the law that applies to us, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO), the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Where Spottail is distributed through an app store, we also comply with that store's child safety requirements, including Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy and Apple's App Store Review Guidelines.
10. Review of these standards
We review these standards at least once a year, and immediately after any material change to our reporting, moderation, or enforcement practices, or to the law that applies to us. When they change, we update the effective date at the top of this page.
